Bobby Fred Thompson, 89, of Busby- Longworth area Texas, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Sterling Hills Healthcare in Sweetwater. His wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at Roby Cemetery on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 10:00 am.

He was born in Taylor County, Texas on January 18,1935 to Bob & Stella Thompson.

Bobby moved to Fisher County at a young age, where he learned to farm and pull cotton. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and married his high school sweetheart Dot. During his lifetime Bobby worked on ranches near Granbury, ran the Shamrock Gas Station in Sweetwater, worked on a dairy farm with his father-in-law, was in the oilfield for many years, had Thompson’s Auto repair in Roby, did missionary work in old Mexico, construction, house remodeling & handyman repair. In his retirement years worked for Scherwitz Farm Produce. Bobby seemed to know a little bit about everything and made up what he January 18, 1935 - April 20, 2024

didn’t. He was an avid reader, and even a better storyteller.

He survived by his wife Mari Lou Thompson of Arizona, daughter Sheree Hartman of Roby, Son Shelby Thompson and Wife Shanon of Ruidoso New Mexico , daughter Shelly Scherwitz And husband Terry of Sweetwater, Son Shalon Thompson of Cherokee, Stepdaughter Charli of Illinois, stepdaughter Lesia of Colorado, Stepdaughter Lori of Arizona, stepson Kevin of Arizona, Sister Barbara Mardis of Sweetwater, brother in law Derwayne Rasco and wife Barbara of Roby, 11 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren , 5 great-great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Bobby is preceded in death by his first wife Dortha Louise Rasco Thompson, daughter Sharla Brown, granddaughter Jessica Knox, his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
