Body
As East Texas residents return to clean up their homes and businesses after extensive flooding earlier this month, the Texas Department of State Health Services urged residents and business owners to exercise caution. Among the recommendations: · Never use gasoline-powered generators or charcoal grills indoors. Keep them outside, at least 20 feet from homes to avoid possible carbon monoxide poisoning. Direct generator engine exhaust away from windows and doors · Never mix bleach with products that contain ammonia. Toxic fumes could be created.

MOONS OVER THE DOUBLE MOUNTAINS

Recognizing the importance society places on mental health issues lately, I feel it is important to admit that sitting at the typewriter the past few weeks has been like having oral surgery performed by an intoxicated Ray Charles. However, after only hours spent with my wife on a rainy Mother’s Day weekend, I’m back to pressing my literary derrière to the glass of government transparency because whether you think it’s funny or offensive, it’s all about discussion.

Thank goodness for the Aspermont Library or I would have had to travel to Rotan to write my column this week, for some reason no internet!!!! So as you know I am not a happy camper when these electronic machines do not do what they are supposed to!!! I told the men at the bank if they would give me my pencil, an old fashioned typewriter, and an old fashioned adding machine I could beat these electronic devices !!!!!! OH well this is progress and so we have to live with it. Wasn't the rain wonderful, Joe's garden is looking good, just has two tomato vines left, but I told him that will be enough if they make like they should. Well I did it, went to Rotan one day last week, and cut back the old big Desert Rose plant. It had got so big it wasn't going to be able to breathe. Jay has been keeping it in the greenhouse at Rotan because it had got to big for Joe and I to handle. It loves the greenhouse just blooms so pretty, but as Jay says, 'Mom I will baby sit that thing but I'm not trimming it back!!!!' We have both tried and tried when I cut it back to root some of the cuttings, and we have not had any luck. So I got on U tube and asked it how to root some of the cuttings. Went and got some perlite, Jay got me some good old Fisher County sand to mix with it, and some root powder, okay that was going to do it. I had been cutting it back like they said at an angle and cutting it where I was supposed to, so this time it's going to work!!!!!! Well we can always hope, I gave one pot to one of my friends here at Aspermont , she has a greenhouse so she's trying , too. We shall see we have faithfully been sprinkling it every morning, and of course all this rain has been wonderful. We have been enjoying our friends from Tennessee, they are staying at the RV camp, until they decide to travel on, wish Joe and I could travel with them but we have the good memories of Colorado, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico. I had a good Mother's day and hope all of you did too. I really enjoyed Sue's column last week about Mom's day for a week, thank you Sue. Brian and Charlie took me out Saturday for Lunch, then Jay and Lance took me out Sunday. Joe took me to Lubbock on Thursday so I really had a good Mom's few days!!!! All of you take care, hopefully we are through with the tornados, the rains were nice but the hail and the tornadoes we can do without. Have a wonderful week!

“Yet the human heart is disheartened by the most unreasonable self-judgments, because even when we take on giants, we too often confuse failure with fault, which I know too well. The only way back from such a bleak despondency is to shape humiliation into humility, to strive always to triumph over the darkness while never forgetting that the honor and the beauty are more in striving than in winning.

High-end electrical users could strain grid

The growth of industrial-scale users of power could strain the Texas power grid, ERCOT’s chief announced last week. The Dallas Morning News reported Pablo Vegas, the agency’s CEO, said bitcoin miners and artificial intelligence data centers going in across the state, as well as industrial growth in the Permian Basin, could create the need for a massive buildup of power transmission lines in the future.

Firefighters, police officers, military personnel, and various emergency response teams around the world use variations of what is commonly referred to as the “Incident Command System.” Embedded within the framework is a self-auditing tool called the “After Action Review”, where the team reviews outcomes by answering four questions 1. What was planned; 2. What actually happened; 3. Why did it happen; 4. What could be done differently.

Wow! what a rain, hail, kept me up all night nearly sure did mess up my sleep and I know all of you were the same. We got one and half inch here at the house, but when we went to church Sunday some of our friends east of us got four inches. That hail is what bothers me, sure can mess things up. Joe's garden and tomatoes took another beating, and the poor peaches that were left on the trees, I don't know. I had him to pull off all of them that were damaged the first time and told him those that were not hurt would get larger, the leaves protected some of them and some of them were close to the trunk of the tree and protected, well this time it got more of them, I told him yesterday when we were looking at them , maybe he would have 3 to eat!!!!!
